Household assistance during this time will be offered to keep things going smoothly. Overnight care, travel, and special needs may be provided as needed. My job varies from day to day, as the needs of your family change. I will do whatever you, as a mother, need to best enjoy and care for your new baby.
A large part of my role is education. I share information about baby care with you as well as teach siblings and partners to “mother the mother”. Like a lactation consultant, I will assist with breastfeeding tips, education and support.
While with you after childbirth I will:
• Offer education, companionship and nonjudgmental support during the postpartum fourth trimester and beyond as necessary.
• Assist with newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation and light housekeeping and errands
• Provide evidence-based information on the benefits of breast milk, breastfeeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, as well as infant soothing and coping skills for new parents and make appropriate referrals when necessary
Think of me as a baby nurse, night nanny and more. The mother is cared for both physically, emotionally, and much more. I’m here to make the mother comfortable.
If mother had a cesarean delivery or any other birth complications, it can make the transition to home even more challenging. The problem that many families run into is finding the help they need to support them through these first few weeks.
This is where the help of a postpartum doula can be just the answer you’re looking for. Postpartum doulas assist families who are bringing home a new baby, whether that is through birth or adoption.
I am honest, reliable, hardworking, and I really enjoy working with children. I have also volunteered in the children’s department of my church, and now with Loma Linda Hospital. Both did a detailed back-ground check on me.
I am available 24/7 for your support. I am also certified in Massage and Pediatric CPR.
